Replay Attack Prevention in Smart Car IoT Systems
This research addresses the growing security threat of replay attacks in IoT-based smart car systems, where attackers intercept and retransmit valid messages to gain unauthorized access — a threat that traditional detection methods struggle to counter. Existing defenses using either nonce-based or counter-based approaches each carry individual limitations around memory overhead and synchronization, so the study proposes a hybrid solution combining both, evaluated through a simulated smart vehicle environment across metrics like replay detection rate, latency, and attack success rate, with the goal of demonstrating a more robust, resource-efficient mitigation framework for IoT automotive security.
